President's Update

Georgina Balascas

Hi Everyone,

Greeting Marklanders,
It may seem like déjà vu, but indeed I am back as the President of the MWHA. I was elected by the membership at our AGM which took place on October 30th.

I am very excited to be able to serve our wonderful community again.

I am also very pleased to announce that Anna Schaefer has also returned to the Board as the Vice-President. Anna has held many positions at the Board, including President and Past President.

I am looking forward to a very productive and busy year ahead.

We had an excellent turnout for the AGM. The program that evening was very important to our community as we heard what our elected officials are doing to defend Markland Wood against GTAA expansion and the use of runways that will impact negatively on the quality of life in our community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj's Parliamentary Assistant Melissa Tica, our MPP, Yvan Baker and our Councillor for Ward 3 and Deputy Mayor, Stephen Holiday for coming and informing us of their efforts to put an end to the Airport's plans to expand.
