President's Update

Hello!

It has certainly been a very difficult and exhausting road that we have
travelled these past several weeks. However, there is a glimmer
of hope as restrictions are being lifted slowly, but carefully. As you
know, certain shops and services have been allowed to open. As this
process continues, we have been asked to remain vigilant and to
maintain social/physical distancing so that the virus does not spread.
Recently we were told that we may be required to wear masks in
stores and other locations as a precaution to protect ourselves and
others. There are several businesses that already require that masks
be worn by their customers.

Because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are making The Marklander May 2020 issue available in PDF format. If you would like to download a copy of The Marklander, follow this link: http://www.marklandwood.org/images/Marklander/PDF/May_2020.pdf)

Hello!

Happy Spring...at least I think it is spring! Last thing I remember was March Break. This morning I saw a neighbour talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog, and we laughed a lot.

I hope you are all managing during this unusual time. Social distancing is not what Markland is all about; it’s not what humanity is all about but it seems to be the only way to fight this global pandemic. We are all in this together as we live the same day, over and over again. The most mundane tasks have taken on a new meaning. Excitement doesn’t cost a mere fortune anymore! Netflix has become a necessity, not a luxury. Zoom used to be a teeth whitening system. The word hero has taken on a new meaning…and the list goes on.

2020 Annual Garage Sale is Cancelled

on Saturday, 30 May 2020.

World's Largest Garage Sale is Cancelled for May 2020!

The Saturday, May 30th, 2020, Markland Wood Homeowners Association Community Garage Sale is cancelled due to the COVID-19 social distancing regulations set by Province of Ontario guidelines.

We hope to continue the "The World's Largest Community Garage Sale."  in May 2021.

"Come one, come all to the greatest bargains in the Greater Toronto Area!"

The 2019 Markland Wood Garage Sale was held on Saturday May 25th.

Don't forget to mark this annual event into your calendar.

See a few photos from past Garage Sales held within the Markland Wood community. People come from great distances to shop at this event. "It's like a Garage Sale, Super Store." said one visitor to this annual event.

We were pleased to announce that UsedToronto.com (partners with Metroland Media) were our media sponsor in May 2014. This meant we had a quarter page ad in two issues of the Etobicoke Guardian and social media exposure through Twitter and Facebook. We had more foot traffic in May 2014 than in years prior! Each resident who set up for the Garage Sale that day received balloons from UsedToronto.com and they also had a booth set up.
